I have a light similar to this one on my NET vest.
What I like about this type of light is it has a flash/strobe option that can be used to increase your visibility to others. In my area, it's dark and rainy for a sizable part of the year and I want to stand out as clearly as possible.
I have a metal-bodied Eddie Bauer brand light that is carried near my right shoulder in a pouch. I can open the lantern (which raises it up enough so the light is visible) and select the strobe function. This gives me a dedicated, flashing light that clearly marks my location and lights up the reflective tape on my vest.
I can also use it as a regular table-top lantern or as a flashlight, but I got it primarily to use as a strobe marker.
